The Time I had an Ally for a teacher, but walked out of class

**Storytime** Can we have a little chat?
I have noticed that there is a key element missing in discussions about race by both Allies and teachers of color. Yes, it's great to read the books and inform, but you may notice that your students/children of color may feel embarrassed or express that they "don't want to read/learn that." Do you know why? I do and it's one of the reasons why I got up and walked out of one of my first university classes and also made a promise to myself to continue doing so throughout my life if needed.

By the way: No, I never reached out to the professor. That was not my job or my focus. I was a teenager in school and I put my energy into being such. Glad I did.
